Marian Weaver is the principal consultant. She was raised on an orchard at Earnscleugh near Alexandra and was educated at Dunstan High School, University of Otago (BSc) and Wellington Polytechnic (Post Grad Diploma in Public Health). She lives in Dunedin and is the musical director of a mens barbershop chorus, and sings in a womens chorus. She has two adult children who live in Europe.
She had 25 years working with the RMA at the Otago Regional Council,where she was the Consent Manager, and involved in making decisions on consent applications,writing, reviewing and improving procedures, implementing new legislation, training staff, having input to regional plan development, writing hearing decisions and dealing with appeals to the Environment Court. She is an accredited Hearing Commissioner with chair's endorsement. Her accreditation was renewed in 2019. Her expertise is in resource consenting matters to do with natural resources - taking and using water from streams or groundwater; developments in the coastal area; discharges to land, air and water; and developments in or over water bodies such as streams and lakes. Where other specialised knowledge of a particular matter is required she uses other consultants working in this area (landscape architect, water chemistry scientist, freshwater or marine ecologist, groundwater hydrologist) Marian is known for her honesty, practical appreciation of issues, efficiency, and long experience with the RMA. |
